Premier League Predictions: Matchweek 14 Thursday Matches
The final two matches of Matchweek 14 take place tonight with Spurs hosting Brentford, and Man Utd taking on Arsenal at Old Trafford..
Is tonight the night that Harry Kane throws off the shackles and blasts a Premier League hat-trick? Or even a brace, one goal, a shot on target?
Kane surely is due a goal by now, hence I stupidly made him my Fantasy Team (you can join the Football Gambler league here) captain this week, rather than Mo Salah.
And after Salah’s 30 points (if he was your captain) yesterday, I’m a bit annoyed with myself, while desperately hoping Kane does the business.
Anyway………. here’s my predictions for tonight’s two matches!
Spurs vs Brentford Match Prediction
Thursday 7.30pm
Spurs seem to be slowly rebuilding their confidence under Antonio Conte.
They started off with a 0-0 draw away at Everton, and then followed that up with a 2-1 home win over Leeds.
The next chapter in the How To Recover Your Confidence handbook (football version) would be to hammer a newly promoted club.
And right on schedule, Brentford turn up.
The problem is, the Bees have been no one’s whipping boys this season. They haven’t read the script.
Brentford haven’t been great themselves lately, but they did beat Everton 1-0 last Sunday to end a sequence of 5 matches without a win.
Oh yes, it was just Everton!
Verdict - SPURS WIN
Man Utd vs Arsenal Match Prediction
Thursday 8.15pm
The obvious call to make here would be Manchester United. They have home advantage, and they have a habit of beating the Gunners.
More to the point, the Gunners have a habit of losing to the big teams in the Premier League.
Can we still call Man Utd a big team though? Only joking United fans, although fans of other teams probably won’t see it this way.
Anyway, United almost pulled off an unlikely victory last Sunday at Chelsea.
Although, if we’re going to be totally honest, Chelsea should have been out of sight by the time Jadon Sancho gave United the lead.
The fact that United got the draw would be confidence building. While the fact they could have been thrashed had Chelsea been more clinical, must be a worry.
The Gunners have been in decent form lately, only Liverpool has beaten them in their last 10 Premier League matches.
But there in lies the problem. The Gunners beat the likes of Watford, Aston Villa, etc, and then get walloped by Liverpool. That’s Arsenal all over.
I think both managers will take a draw tonight, so I’m happy to sit on the fence in this match.
Verdict - DRAW
